| Climate change - 25.03.2009 Situation more badly than fears? Warning Potsdamer climatologist The Potsdamer climatologist Hans Joachim Schellnhuber holds the opinion according to data of the press agency AFP that the carbon dioxide output increases world-wide still more substantially more strongly than feared in the most drastic prognoses. A rise of the carbon dioxide content in air, primarily released by human activities, causes an intensified greenhouse effect and is thus responsible in opinion of numerous climatologists considerably for the heating up of the terrestrial atmosphere. Among other things with it melting processes of the polar ice caps, the rise of the sea level and the increase of extreme meteorological phenomena in connection are brought.Schellnhuber appoints itself to new realizations from it led potsdam of institute for climatic subsequent research (SPADES), if it stresses that many Worst Case scenarios were already exceeded by the reality. According to him all current realizations point out over the climate change that the situation is still more difficult than a few years ago feared.
