Bis in den Sonntagvormittag hinein im Süden, Südosten und zum Teil auch im Mittelgebirgsraum verbreitet strenger Frost zwischen -10 und -15 Grad. Zeitweise Schneefall, im Bergland teils länger andauernd. Neuschneemengen um 5, in Staulagen zum Teil mehr als 10 Zentimeter innerhalb von 12 Stunden möglich. In freien Lagen Gefahr durch Schneeverwehungen. Im äußersten Nordosten sowie im Südwesten und am Alpenrand nur vereinzelt Schnee.

Am Montag bis in den Vormittag hinein im Norden, Nordosten und an den Alpen verbreitet strenger Frost zwischen -10 und -15 Grad, über Schnee noch kälter. In den mittleren Gebieten noch zeitweise Schneefall, Neuschneemengen um 5, im Bergland zum Teil mehr als 10 Zentimeter innerhalb von 12 Stunden möglich. Im Süden leichter Schneefall, Neuschneemengen wahrscheinlich nicht mehr als 5 Zentimeter. Am Tage wahrscheinlich fast überall Dauerfrost .
Am Dienstag zunächst verbreitet strenger Frost, über Schnee zum Teil Tiefsttemperaturen um -20 Grad möglich. Auch am Tage wahrscheinlich durchweg leichter bis mäßiger Dauerfrost. Im Norden später auffrischender Westwind, Böen wahsrcehinlich aber nicht über 65 km/h ( Stärke 8 ). Im Norden am Abend und in der Nacht zum Mittwoch erneut leichter Schneefall möglich.
Am Mittwoch bis in den Vormittag hinein in der Mitte und im Süden wahrscheinlich verbreitet strenger bis sehr strenger Frost mit Temperaturen unter -15 Grad, über Schnee bis -20 Grad. Im Norden, Nordosten und zum Teil auch im Mittelgebirgsraum etwas Schnee, Neuschneemengen wahrscheinlich aber nur sehr gering.
Ausblick bis Freitag, 09.01.09
Außer im Norden, Nordwesten und am Niederrhein wahrscheinlich leichter bis mäßiger Dauerfrost. In den Nächten in der Mitte und im Süden weiterhin strenger Frost, über Schnee mit Tiefsttemperaturen unter -15 Grad möglich. Im Norden und im Nordosten vereinzelt Niederschlag, meist als Schnee, teils als Regen mit Glättebildung.
