URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SACRAMENTO CA
333 AM PST TUE FEB 10 2009

...WINTER WEATHER WILL RETURN THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY
NIGHT...

.A SERIES OF WINTER WEATHER SYSTEMS WILL MOVE THROUGH NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA THIS WEEK. THE NEXT SYSTEM WILL BRING PRECIPITATION
INTO THE NORTHERN PORTION OF INTERIOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA THIS
AFTERNOON AND SPREAD SOUTH ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING AND WILL
BRING LOWERING SNOW LEVELS. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO TAPER
OFF WEDNESDAY NIGHT. ANOTHER SYSTEM IS EXPECTED THURSDAY NIGHT AND
FRIDAY. ADDITIONAL PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE OVER THE WEEKEND AND
INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH
WEDNESDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WATCH FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 2500 FEET IN INTERIOR NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH
WEDNESDAY EVENING.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS OF INTERIOR
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BEGINNING THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SNOW
LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AROUND 3000 FEET TO 4000 FEET AND LOWER
TO AROUND 2000 TO 3000 FEET BEHIND THE COLD FRONT ON WEDNESDAY
MORNING. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 6 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE
IN THE FOOTHILLS...WITH 10 TO 20 INCHES POSSIBLE ABOVE 4000 FEET
BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT. LOCALLY GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS TO 50 MPH MAY
CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AT TIMES ACROSS THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
